With summer well and truly on its way, the excitement is building for the action packed calendar of events ahead. One thing that is getting bigger and better every year is the Music Nights after racing. This year, racecourses are presenting a fantastic, world-class line up of A-list artists and acts such as Rita Ora, Jess Glynne, Tom Jones, Madness and even top DJs like Pete Tong. There is something for all ages to enjoy. Here is a taster of the line-up you can find performing this summer at a racecourse near you.
MADNESS Starting with old favourites Madness - it really must be love, love, love, with Madness performing at NINE racecourses across the country! Who doesn’t love a bit of Madness, a golden oldie and one that will please the whole family. It is a guaranteed good night out at the races when they are performing. A great night out with the family and the perfect crowd pleaser if you are looking for something to do with a group or celebrate a special occasion. Our next act is a little more modern, the wonderful Jess Glynne! Jess has performed at many racecourses before and was a great success, selling out every performance...she is back again and in high demand. Jess Will be performing at four racecourses this summer, with two at each end of the country. Hopefully you are able to get to one or the other as this is one you do not want to miss. We promise you won’t be disappointed, she puts on a fantastic show and we can’t wait to see her again! Doncaster, Haydock, Sandown and Lingfield.
GOODWOOD FRIDAY NIGHTS Goodwood have three consecutive Friday nights with live music all of which feature some of the world's best DJs! The first of the three is MK, an awesome American DJ who has worked with the likes of Jonas Blue and Becky Hill! You won’t be able to keep still with these beats! The next Goodwood Friday night will see Gorgon City; the ultimate electronic duo from North London. They are top house music producers and have worked with more people than we can name. Last of the Goodwood Friday nights is Disciples. An epic line-up that will be hard to beat at such a fantastic venue! These are sure to sell out! Goodwood UB40 UB40, a top 80’s Reggae band famous for their hits ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Can’t help falling in love’ have done their rounds of UK racecourse in the past but will only be making one appearance this year at Aintree. If you are a big fan of the band then don’t miss your chance to see them for one night only and sing along to all of those number 1 classics. Liverpool is a fantastic city and very easy to get to by train from London. Make a trip of it by staying overnight and enjoy exploring the delights of the city centre. Aintree NILE ROGERS AND CHIC Probably one of the best bands performing this year, name your top 10 favourite songs of all time and these guys were probably involved in at least one of them! They have worked with everyone from Daft Punk, Duran Duran and even Madonna! Do not miss this - one of the best performances you will experience with an electric atmosphere that will leave you on a high. Haydock, Newmarket RICK ASTLEY & CLIFF RICHARDS Keeping it old school, Cartmel will welcome the brilliant Rick Astley and Cliff Richards. Rick who just had a #1 platinum selling album in 2016, is clearly not giving up anytime soon! He has been back in the studio with lots of great new songs and of course will be performing the old favourites we all love! Where to start with Sir Cliff Richards - a living legend, need we say more with songs like ‘Summer Holiday’ - this will make for the perfect summer evening of singing and dancing. One of the best bands to see live and great for a family night out or a night with friends. Kaiser Chiefs are returning to Newmarket for another year after many previous successful appearances after racing. Newmarket is easy to get to and is followed by racing on the Saturday too so why not make a weekend of it? Newmarket RITA ORA New to the racing circuit Rita Ora will take to the stage in Doncaster and Royal Windsor. A pop icon of the 21st Century, Rita has had numerous number 1 singles in the chart which makes her one of the most successful artists of this summer line up. There are plenty of songs to sing and dance to including ‘Hot Right Now’ and ‘Your Song’ so make sure you buy tickets soon as this is guaranteed to be a sell out. Doncaster racecourse has the new Hilton Garden Inn located on site to make an overnight stay super easy and convenient. Royal Windsor is a fantastic course with beautiful surroundings and easy to get to from in and around London. Royal Windsor and Doncaster. BUSTED, TEARS FOR FEARS AND JAMES ARTHUR All of these great acts will be at York racecourse this year. If you are not local to York and wish to see one of these fantastic acts then fear not, as the racecourse has a hotel on site for you to book an overnight stay and make your journey more worthwhile. Not forgetting the racing action, York is one of the best racecourses for Summer Racing and offers some of the best flat racing of the season so there is plenty to enjoy. York BASEMENT JAXX One of the great Windsor Saturday nights will feature electronic music duo Basement Jaxx for a DJ set. Taking place in the heart of summer, we hope the sun will beam down to create a lovely warm evening to enjoy these amazing tunes with a nice cold drink or two. Royal Windsor THRILLER
This is something a little different to the usual singer, band, or DJ - The Thriller Show! Yes you read that right the glitz and glamour of a West End show is coming to Newmarket races! The show is all of the great Michael Jackson hits in one set. An amazing way to experience a West End show with a little twist. To give you a better idea we have linked a trailer of the show below!
Newmarket TOM JONES
Find me a person on the planet that can’t name at least one of Tom Jones’ songs! With hits like ‘It’s not unusual’ and ‘Sex Bomb’, you are guaranteed to have a boogie and sing-along with this living legend of a musician. This is the perfect night out for all the family; young or old, you will be dancing and rocking the night away! Newbury RUDIMENTAL Rudimental will be returning to Newmarket races for a 2nd year running after proving to be a popular choice amongst the punters. They will be doing a DJ set, something which Newmarket only recently introduced in the last three years, and makes for a great party after racing! Newmarket PETE TONG AND THE HERITAGE ORCHESTRA
Sticking with the DJs, Newmarket and Sandown will be hosting the amazing Pete Tong and The Heritage orchestra. This is a fantastic set with Pete Tong playing all of those club anthems alongside a live orchestra, creating an extraordinary party atmosphere. If you want a taster, check out the video below. BANANARAMA Another band taking to the stage at Newmarket is Bananrama, this old school trio are always a crowd pleaser with chart topping hits such as ‘Cruel Summer’ and ‘Venus’ - we all know that one! Why not make a weekend of it and see what Newmarket has to offer with great hotels and tours available. Newmarket. YEARS AND YEARS One Britain's greatest bands around at the moment, a mix of electro pop and R&B best known for their song ‘King’, will be making an appearance this summer at Newmarket. Not just for the young ones, you will find yourself bopping around to their songs whether you are a fan or not! Newmarket JAMES One of the 90s greatest bands with hits like ‘Come Home’ and ‘Sit Down’, you will regret if you don’t make the effort to see this iconic band.
