Example Itinerary

Below is an example itinerary based on our 7 night experience to Japan. 

We can tailor trips to individual preferences so if you'd like to extend your stay in either Sapporo or Tokyo, or visit another destination at the beginning or end of your trip, we can help you build the perfect itinerary.

Day 1:  Monday 23rd November 2026

Arrival & Welcome Dinner

- Upon arrival in Sapporo make your way to the hotel to check in.

- After checking in we’ll meet at the hotel for some welcome drinks and then head out for a fabulous local dinner so we can get to know each other and plan our week ahead.

Day 2:  Tuesday 24th November 2026

Explore Sapporo

- Today is for exploring Sapporo! The morning starts with a visit to the Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, followed by a trip to the Nijo Fish Market and then lunch at Sapporo beer garden.

- The remainder of the afternoon is then yours to explore more of Sapporo!

Day 3:  Wednesday 25th November 2026

Stud & Stable Tours

- An early start as we head to some of the farms that make Japanese racing so strong. Beginning at the famous Paca Paca Farm where Japanese Derby winner Deep Brillante was bred. You'll then head to Darley's Castle Park to check out the facilities before lunch.

- In the afternoon you'll head to Darley's Stallion Complex to see some of their top stallions parade.

Day 4:  Thursday 26th November 2026

Flight to Tokyo & Dinner

- You'll check out of the Sapporo hotel and head to Chitose Airport for a flight to Tokyo.

- Upon arrival and after checking in, you'll head out for a relaxed dinner to get a feel for the city and discuss the days ahead.

Day 5:  Friday 27th November 2026

Tsukiji Fish Market Tour & City Exploration

- Friday starts with a visit to Tsukiji Fish Market, then Asakusa followed by a trip to the busiest intersection in the world, Shibuya crossing!

- The afternoon and evening is yours to continue exploring Tokyo!

Day 6:  Saturday 28th November 2026

Day At Leisure

- Today is a free day on the itinerary which allows you to head out and see more of this incredible city.

- For those seeking a real adventure you could consider a day trip to the iconic Mount Fuji, or choose a high-speed trip on the famous bullet train!

Day 7:  Sunday 29th November 2026

Japan Cup & Farewell Dinner

- Today is the highlight of the trip, Japan Cup Day! Held at the iconic Tokyo Racecourse we'll enjoy premium hospitality with exclusive access and exceptional views across the course.

- After the races you'll head back to the hotel for a farewell dinner!

Day 8:  Monday 28th November 2026

Trip Concludes

- After breakfast, have the morning at leisure before making your way back to the airport to catch your flight back to the UK.

Excursions

Our trip to the Japan Cup is more than just the racing at Tokyo Racecourse.

 

You'll also get to experience some unique excursions alongside some free time to explore both Sapporo and Tokyo. If you have any other excursions in mind get in touch and we'd be happy to assist in adding these to your quote!

Sapporo Tour

You will get the chance to explore Sapporo and head up the chairlift of the 1972 Ski Jump for beautiful views over the city. 

 

You'll stop in at Nijo Fish Market to try some local Hokkaido giant oysters and visit the local chocolate factory. 

 

You’ll then head to the popular Sapporo Beer Garden for lunch. You’ll try a freshly brewed Sapporo beer and a “Genghis Khan”, a local Hokkaido speciality dish of lamb and mutton.

Stud & Stable Tours

You will get a chance to visit some of the farms that make Japanese racing so strong. Starting with a tour of Dr. Harry Sweeney’s famous Paca Paca Farm where 2012 Japanese Derby winner Deep Brillante was bred. 

You will also visit the pre-training facilities at Darley’s Castle Park where you’ll check out their amazing facilities including an undercover uphill 1400m gallop.

 

Finally you will visit Darley’s Stallion Complex where they will parade four of their top stallions for you to inspect.

Tokyo Tour

After a stay in Sapporo you will move onto Tokyo and enjoy a tour of the city with a guide as you get used to the fantastic local trains.

 

You’ll start with fantastic views over Tokyo from the observation deck, see Mt Fuji if the weather is clear, then visit Meiji Jingu Shrine & Harajuku shopping precinct, the world-famous Shibuya crossing before a visit to the old Yanaka Ginza district for some old-world charm and a local feed of Ramen.

Flights to Japan

If required, we can include flights to Japan within our experiences.​

There are are a couple of direct flight options from selected UK airports to Tokyo. An onward flight to Sapporo is then required, with a return from Sapporo to Tokyo during the trip itinerary (included as standard)

 

Extended stopovers are possible for those looking to spend a few nights whilst connecting in other locations.

Flight upgrades are available to Premium Economy, Business & First Class.

If booking your own flights you need to fly to Tokyo then onwards to Sapporo to arrive on Monday 24th November 2025. Your flight from Sapporo back to Tokyo is included in your experience meaning your return flight is simply Tokyo to the UK no Monday 1st December.
