Each enclosure at the Ebor Festival delivers something distinctive — from the lively Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure with its expansive trackside viewing, multiple bars offering racing views, ‘good food to go’ options, and access to the Clocktower area for a vibrant, all-encompassing experience, to the premier County Stand featuring exclusive Moët Pavilion, Roof Terrace and Champagne Lawns, superior facilities, and a more refined, sophisticated atmosphere with enhanced vantage points.
Where possible, we recommend guests upgrade to the County Enclosure to ensure the best possible experience.
The Clocktower Enclosure
The Clocktower Enclosure offers a more relaxed and informal way to enjoy the Ebor Festival, with a spacious grassy bank providing excellent close-up views of the finish. Ideal for families, friends and those looking for a more casual raceday experience, the enclosure has its own food court, bars and bookmakers, while large screens keep you close to all the racing action. Picnics are also welcome, making it a great-value option for enjoying a memorable day at York Racecourse.
Grandstand & Paddock
Included as standard
York Racecourse’s largest enclosure. Includes access to the Clocktower enclosure and Knavesmire Stand that offers many bars and has great views of the racing. This enclosure gives guests trackside viewing and “good food to go” options. You also have access to the Knavesmire Restaurant as well as Robert Lawn & Southern Terraces. Guests can access views of the Parade Ring, Pre-Parade Ring and Main Betting Ring.
County Stand

York Racecourse’s premier enclosure. Includes access to everything that guests in the Grandstand & Paddock receive and in addition you have access to the exclusive Moët Pavilion, Roof Terrace and Champagne Lawns. You can also access the Listed Gimcrack Stand & Ebor Stand bars for elevated viewing of the racing. Guests can access the Gimcrack Restaurant, Eat Between Our Races Eatery & Princess Mary Seafood Bar.

About the York Ebor Festival
The Yorkshire Ebor Festival is a cornerstone of the late summer Flat racing calendar at York Racecourse. Over four days in August, some of the season’s biggest races — including the famous Ebor Handicap — take centre stage, attracting elite horses and keen racegoers alike. Each day offers top‑class competition alongside social highlights and a lively atmosphere, making the Ebor Festival a must‑visit event for fans of tradition, thrilling finishes and memorable raceday experiences.
Juddmonte International
Featuring the Juddmonte International (Group 1) – the richest race of York’s season, ranked number one of all thoroughbred horse races in the world 2012 and again in 2020. Famously won by both Frankel and Baaeed, considered by some the as the best thoroughbreds in history.
Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks & Ladies Day
Dress to impress for fabulous prizes on the Ebor Fashion Lawn. Regularly the highest rated mare and fillies race in Europe, the Group 1 Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks, takes place on this day – twice won by the “Queen of the Turf” – Enable.
Coolmore Nunthorpe
Featuring York’s fastest race, the Group 1 Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe, which regularly ranks as the highest rated 1,000m sprint in the world. A new course record of under 57 seconds was set in 2019, be there to enjoy it, just don’t blink.
Sky Bet Ebor
Since 1843, York’s oldest and most famous race, the Ebor, has generated much excitement and many tales. The richest flat handicap in Europe, be there to savour the race and the buzz it creates.
York Ebor Festival Dress Code
While the only formal dress code at York (within the bounds of decency) is that in the County Stand gentlemen are required to wear a jacket, collared shirt and tie, many racegoers like to dress up and step out in style for a day at York Racecourse.
The County Stand
The County Stand is York’s premier enclosure, and has a formal dress code of collared shirt, jacket and tie for men. While there are no formal dress rules beyond this the following section can be used as a guide to help you assemble your raceday fashion statement.
Short sleeved shirts, bow ties, cravats and dress shorts are all also accepted within the dress code.
There is no formal dress code for ladies, however most choose to dress up for a day at the races – think wedding guest attire. Lots of female racegoer do like to wear dresses, high heeled shoes together with hats or fascinators, however it’s most important that you feel comfortable and enjoy your day!
The Grandstand and Paddock
The Grandstand and Paddock has no formal dress code and feel free to dress as you wish and feel comfortable. However, taking a lead from the County Stand dress code, many racegoers in this enclosure do like to use a day at the races as an excuse to get glammed up.
Fancy dress (within the bounds of decency) is not unusual but please ensure it is family friendly.

Yes, children under 18 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult (terms apply on certain racedays). The Clocktower Enclosure is particularly popular with families.
All Racing Breaks York Ebor Festival hotel packages can be booked with an initial 10% deposit. A further 20% deposit is then due two months after the date of booking, with the final balance typically due around 12 weeks before travel. If you book closer to the event, a 30% deposit (or payment in full) may be required at the time of booking.
All hospitality bookings can be booked with an initial 50% deposit. The final balance is typically due around 12 weeks before travel. If you book closer to the date of the event payment in full may be required at the time of booking.
Deposits for Racing Breaks packages are non-refundable at any stage of cancellation. If you cancel more than 60 days before departure, you will lose the full deposit paid (a minimum of 30% of the booking value). Cancellations made 59 days or fewer before departure result in the loss of the full value of the booking.

Tickets for Racing Breaks York Ebor Festival packages are usually distributed 1–2 weeks before the event. Grandstand & Paddock enclosure tickets are provided in the form of e-tickets, whilst County Stand enclosure tickets are physical badges that will be posted your home address prior to travel.
The Grandstand & Paddock is the largest and most accessible enclosure, offering trackside viewing, bars, food outlets and Parade Ring access. The County Stand is the premier enclosure with elevated viewing, exclusive bars and lawns (including the Moët Pavilion), and a smarter dress code. The Clocktower Enclosure is the most relaxed area and ideal for picnics.
Thursday is Ladies’ Day at the York Ebor Festival. It features the Group 1 Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks and a lively fashion atmosphere with prizes on the Ebor Fashion Lawn.
York Racecourse is approximately one mile from York city centre and York railway station. A shuttle bus runs between the racecourse and train station each day. Many Racing Breaks packages include hotel stays within easy reach of the course. Independent travellers can walk, take a short taxi, or use local buses. Parking is available but should be pre-booked on busy festival days.
