Stockholm Cup International: An introduction to our brand-new trip

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

What's the itinerary on Swedish Golden Jubilee Weekend?

Landing in Stockholm on Friday 15th September (return flights to the UK are included), we include Arlanda Express train tickets to take you into town. From there, it's a short walk to your base for the weekend, the 5* Grand Hotel Stockholm, which has entertained diplomats, celebrities and Nobel laureates for over a century. On Saturday, after an extensive breakfast buffet (included in your package, along with access to the hotel gym), you have the day at leisure, and are free to explore this shining city of 1.6m. We are, however, happy to send a recommended list of activities, bars and restaurants, and you'll want to take in the Golden Jubilee carriage procession, as it winds its way through town, led by King Carl XVI Gustaf, who is marking fifty years on the throne.

Sunday 17th September is Stockholm Cup Day. We transfer you by coach to Bro Park Racecourse, where you'll be met on arrival by the course's champion jockey (Per-Anders Gråberg) and champion trainer (Patrick Wahl). As a ten-race card over turf, dirt, hurdles and fences unfurls, you'll be seated in Bro Park's panoramic restaurant, with sweeping views of the course and pre-parade. Enjoy a three-course lunch with wine, then head downstairs to get up close to the action. At the end of the day, the coach will take you back into town, and you can use your Arlanda Express ticket to return to the airport next morning.

An short introduction to Bro Park Racecourse

By Josephine Chini: former Swedish jockey, now television presenter

Bro Park is a new racecourse, built just outside Stockholm. It sprang up in 2016, and keeps two surfaces: turf and dirt, along with a permanent jumps course. The facilities are fantastic, and it's a beautiful setting, in what used to be farm parkland. You can get up close to the horses in the parade ring, and you have a lovely atmosphere and good food. Time to have a laugh at the races!
