Ebor Festival: Our trip to the Knavesmire in 2024

What is the Ebor Festival?

The highlight of Yorkshire's racing calendar, the Ebor serves in many ways as a 'Goodwood of the north'. With such Group One contests as the Juddmonte International, Nunthorpe and Yorkshire Oaks, York has seen appearances in recent years from the likes of Frankel, Enable and Stadivarius.

What's the itinerary?

We put you up the night before or after racing, and provide you with tickets to the festival on a day of your choice. Spend the day either in the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure, or in the smarter County Stand Enclosure, where a jacket and tie is required. In either enclosure, you'll soak up the atmosphere of a proper northern day out... and witness some top quality racing action!

What happened in 2023?

Our ambassador, Frankie Dettori, continued his Farewell Tour in fairytale fashion: winning the Juddmonte International on Mostadahf, and taking both the City of York and Ebor in the same day on Saturday. Elsewhere, James Doyle saw his first Coolmore success aboard Warm Heart in the Yorkshire Oaks, and there was triumph for the Epsom training grounds as Live In The Dream stormed home for Adam West and young jockey Sean Kirrane. That afternoon, Coltrane had taken revenge on previous defeats in a Lonsdale Cup success, with Oisin Murphy aboard.

Where will you be staying?

Choose between a hotel in York's city centre, or the 4* Doubletree hotel in Leeds, where you receive 20 per cent off all food and drinks during your stay. Our York hotels are in easy walking reach of the racecourse, and include the brand-new 4* Radisson, and the 5* Grand Hotel, where you'll be presented with a welcome drink on arrival.
