Overview
Held between the first two Saturdays in November each year, the Melbourne Cup Carnival consists of four days of world class racing at the magnificent Flemington Racecourse.
The week gets underway on Saturday 4th November with Derby Day which features no less than nine Group Races, including four Group 1’s. The Melbourne Cup itself, known as “the race that stops a nation”, takes place on Tuesday 7th November and is one of the world’s richest turf races.
On Thursday 9th November the Carnival continues with Oaks Day, a day that features beauty, style and grace with racegoers dressing up in their finest attire. The week is brought to a conclusion on Saturday 12th November with Stakes Day, a day that celebrates the week that’s just been including two final Group 1 races.
