In jump racing all roads lead to the iconic Cheltenham Festival in March and on Saturday 17th February Wincanton Racecourse proudly stages the Kingwell Hurdle that attracts possible Champion Hurdle contenders - this year the whole raceday has been kindly sponsored by Betway.
In a relationship that starts with the outstanding hurdler Bula, The Kingwell Hurdle has long had ties with The Cheltenham Festival's day one feature race, the Champion Hurdle. His back to back Kingwell and subsequent Champion Hurdle victories sparkled a trend that has been continued through the years, with a massive 81% of Kingwell Hurdle winners going on to run in the Champion Hurdle.
With a list of declarations that includes the likes of Champion Hurdle-bound Yanworth, the race is again of top drawer quality as the season reaches it's peak. The reigning Kingwell Champion, Rayvin Black, will return to defend his title as he faces stiff opposition from Grade One winners such as Irving and Melodic Rendezvous.
