What to wear
A week at Goodwood provides the perfect opportunity for those looking to experiment with the latest addition to their wardrobe. The festival is also one of the few places where it is possible to go all out with your choice of hat - whether elaborate or elegant. For the ladies, an effortless, yet vibrant summer look is a popular choice, perhaps a summer wedding outfit. For the gents, a smart, yet relaxed look is recommended. Although only compulsory in the Richmond Enclosure, a jacket and tie are encouraged. However, whatever attire you choose, be sure to feel comfortable - after all, Goodwood is one of the most photographed events of the year. It is important to note that while the Lennox Enclosure is the most relaxed, bare chests and fancy dress are not permitted. Gentlemen are also strongly discouraged from wearing shorts and sleeveless tops in the Gordon enclosure, whilst no jeans are allowed in the Richmond Enclosure.

The History
Often hailed as the ‘Home of Champions’, Goodwood has certainly seen its fair share of world class thoroughbreds over the years. As the most highly anticipated flat race of the year, the 5 day festival is not only a standout sporting highlight, but also a social one too, and coming during the peak of summer towards the end of July, has hence received the nickname ‘Glorious Goodwood’. A week at the festival treats you to a number of highlights - the £1 million Qatar Sussex Stakes on Wednesday, the glamorous Ladies Day on Thursday, four world class Group races on Friday and the concluding Steward’s cup cavalry charge on Saturday.
Another flagship event at Goodwood is the Magnolia Cup, which takes place on the opening day of the festival. The charity race is contested by 12 fearless ladies, all leading figures in business, and having run for 6 years now, provides a glamorous and enthralling opening to the festival.
Away from the racing, Goodwoods live music, fashion, glorious weather and food and drink all provide an excellent showcase of a quintessentially British atmosphere. It is no wonder a ticket to Qatar Goodwood Festival is one of the most sought after summer attractions - racing enthusiast or not!
