Enclosures

Where to be for the best views

PREMIER ENCLOSURE

An admission badge at the Premier Enclosure offers guests both second to none facilities and the finest views from the racecourse of both the track and the stage. Guests will also have wider access to a diverse choice of food and drink outlets as well as the Grandstand & Paddock and Family Enclosures where the bookmakers are located. A strict dress code applies to the Premier Enclosure, requiring gentleman to wear a collared shirt and this is outlined in more detail below.

GRANDSTAND AND PADDOCK ENCLOSURE

Guests visiting the grandstand and paddock enclosure will receive a good middle ground between the premier and family enclosure. Grandstand accommodation provides good views of the racing and the Parade Ring, Pre-Parade Ring and Winner's Circle can all be easily seen. Easy access to a variety of food and drink outlets are also available at a reasonable price. Guests from this enclosure will also be given access to the stage at the Premier Enclosure after the last race has been run. A smart / casual dress code operates in this area with further detail below.

FAMILY ENCLOSURE

Formerly known as the Garden Enclosure, the Family Enclosure is a spacious area, and with no dress code, provides a relaxing atmosphere for all members of the family. There are several catering outlets operating from mobile units, whilst the bookmakers and tote betting outlets are also located here. The enclosure is located furthest away from the Winning Post and Newmarket Night Stage - although, guests will have access to this after the racing is over.

Dress Codes

What to wear

PREMIER ENCLOSURE

The Premier enclosure at Newmarket likes to make any visit a special occasion. For this reason it is encouraged that Ladies and Gentlemen dress up smartly. Most Gentlemen would wear smart trousers and a pair of smart shoes to ensure they are dressed appropriately. Although there is no formal rule against wearing jeans in the Premier enclosure you will very rarely see someone wearing jeans. For Ladies, the top tip is to imagine that you are dressing for a smart wedding and so many Ladies do opt for a hat but it is not compulsory. Under no circumstances are t-shirts, trainers, sportswear, fancy dress or swimwear deemed suitable dress for the Premier Enclosure.

GRANDSTAND & PADDOCK / FAMILY ENCLOSURES

In the Grandstand & Paddock and Family Enclosure the dress code is far more relaxed. Many people wear shorts and t-shirts when enjoying the sunshine. Bare chests are not acceptable and the only restrictions on t-shirts are that of appropriateness in regards to slogans and designs.

FANCY DRESS

Fancy dress is allowed at Newmarket on all days within the Grandstand & Paddock and Family Enclosure but fancy dress is never permitted within the Premier Enclosure at any time. It is worth noting that Newmarket Racecourse has the right to refuse entry to anyone they deem to be wearing offensive clothing. If you are in a party wearing fancy dress, to avoid disappointment, it is worth contacting the racecourse beforehand to check you will be allowed entry.
