Longines Irish Champions Weekend is undoubtedly the shining triumph of Irish flat racing, combining sporting and social enjoyment like no other.

The 2019 event takes place over the weekend of the 14th & 15th of September across two racecourses.

On Saturday 14th September the QIPCO Irish Champions Stakes Day is held at Leopardstown Racecourse and on Sunday 15th September the Comer Group International Irish St Leger Day is held at the Curragh.

Offering some of the best racing in the world, elegant fashion, off track entertainment and gourmet food & beverages, this unique atmosphere is electric and unforgettable, certainly a bucket list worthy event.

What to wear

There is not a strict dress code at the Curragh but they do encourage clients to dress smartly.


You do not have to wear ties, and jackets are not compulsory but smart casual is good and is the norm on most days.


Dress accordingly for the occasion and the weather, you are not going to a wedding or a night club, Don’t have your skirt too short, heels you can’t walk in and too much flesh on display – leave a little to the imagination and Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.

How to find us


By Car

From Dublin take Exit 9 off the M50 onto the N7 southbound. Take Exit 12 off the M7. When you arrive, you’ll find plenty of free car parking. Regular racegoers can opt for annual preferred car parking at a nominal rate.

By Taxi

Taxis can pick up and drop off at the main entrance.

By Bus

Dublin Coach provide a service to the races on all race days from Dublin Airport via the Red Cow Luas with stops in Naas and Newbridge and from Burgh Quay in Dublin City Centre via Kildare Village and from Limerick and Portlaoise.

By Rail

Mainline trains from Heuston Station (Dublin), Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway to Kildare Town with complimentary Shuttle Bus to the racecourse.

By Helicopter

Executive Helicopters provide transfers from various airports, hotels and private locations to our helipad located at the racecourse.


There is plenty of free parking at the racecourse.
