Head to Chepstow with family and friends in-between Christmas and New Year for the feature meeting of the year The Coral Welsh Grand National

The biggest raceday in Wales will return to Chepstow Racecourse on Thursday 27th December.

As well as 7 thrilling jump races on the card, including the biggest race in Wales, the day will be packed with Welsh themed entertainment for the entire family including singing from Chepstow Musical Youth Theatre, The Bridgend Male Voice Choir, a Tom Jones tribute, a performance from a jazz band and more, you may even get to see a dragon!

The Welsh National Anthem will be sung by two Welsh celebrities ahead of the big race, details to be released shortly.

On arrival you will find your Race Card waiting for you to follow during the Tipster talk; with the Tipster then staying and hosting your afternoon. In the marquee you will have access to private bar and betting facilities.

Silks is reopening for the Coral Welsh Grand National meeting with a new name! "The View" Restaurant has fantastic views of the parade ring, winners enclosure and winning line. Relax in this newly refurbished suite and enjoy an afternoon of fantastic racing action. This package includes a glass of Prosecco on arrival, four-course choice menu, afternoon, tea, coffee and cake, hospitality admission ticket, a small gift, tipster talk, raceday programme, private bar and betting facilities and a dedicated waiter or waitress looking after you for the day.

One Enclosure

Combines both of the below enclosures into one - this is used for many of the racedays in the calendar.

Premier Enclosure

Guests staying at the Premier Enclosure will be treated with unprecedented views of the racing action. Your Premier Admission badge also offers full access to all public areas. The racecourse politely asks that guests adhere to the smart casual dress code - whilst smart jeans are acceptable, ripped jeans, casual shorts (tailored shorts are acceptable) football/rugby shirts, or trainers are all not permitted.

Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure

Those staying within the Grandstand will receive views of the track and parade ring, as well as having access to the bar and selection of food outlets.

Dress Codes

What to wear

No vests, football/rugby shirts or ripped jeans are allowed anywhere on the racecourse. In public areas, customers should wear smart shorts and trainers, whilst In hospitality areas, smart, casual clothing is preferred. Trainers, shorts, shirts without a collar or fancy dress are all not permitted. The racecourse encourages as many hospitality guests as possible to dress-up for the occasion.

How to find us



Chepstow Train Station is conveniently located only a 10 minute walk from the town centre. Direct trains run from Birmingham, Cardiff, Cheltenham Spa, Derby, Gloucester, Newport and Nottingham. Connections are also available at Newport for London Paddington, Shrewsbury, Hereford, Crewe, Manchester, Swansea and all parts of Wales. Also, Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Salisbury and Portsmouth and all parts of the South and West of England.


A bus shuttle service runs from the town's train station, via the bus station, to the racecourse on racedays. The service also operates from Newport train station. Return tickets cost £3 from Chepstow and £5 from Newport.



Chepstow Racecourse is easily accessible from the M4 East (J21) or the M4 West (J23). From there, take the M48 and exit at Junction 2 towards Chepstow. The racecourse is on the A466 Chepstow to Monmouth Road.


Parking at Chepstow is both free and plentiful.
